Aurora Borealis Tracker - The Nordics

This service calculates the chance of seeing the Northern Lights across The Nordics in real-time, and up to 45 minutes into the future. Use the layers menu to explore the different factors:

• Geomagnetic Activity (NOAA): Shows incoming solar storms (purple color). The Kp-index indicates the global strength of the storm:
  • Kp 0–3: Moderate activity
  • Kp 4–5: Active. Aurora likely in the North.
  • Kp 6–7: Solar Storm. Aurora visible further South.
  • Kp 8–9: Severe storm. May affect electronics.
  The percentage (%) in green, indicates the actual probability of an aurora at that specific location based on latitude.
• Cloud Cover (Live): Adds a gray dot pattern over cloudy areas. To see the aurora, you need to find the clear skies!
• Daylight / Darkness: Shows the divide between night and day. The sun must be below the horizon for the aurora to be visible.
• Visible Northern Lights: The ultimate overview. This function calculates all the factors above. If the map glows green, it's dark, clear, and the aurora is active!
